Our Club

The Somers Rotary Club was chartered on June 16, 1964.  Our members are business and professional men and women with a common goal of serving our local community and the worldwide community.

What Somers Rotarians Do

Besides conducting fund raising projects to raise money to give to deserving groups or to fund our projects, Somers Rotarians are  committed to Rotary’s motto: “Service above Self” and are noted for getting involved in community projects that require a lot of their time and labor.

Some of the “Hands on” projects that we have participated in are:

-Sponsor and run the annual Easter Egg Hunt in at Field Road Park

-Built the Somers Senior Center

-Sponsor and run the Annual Fishing Derby each May

-Coordinate Somers High School fundraisers, such as the Cider Press benefitting the High School Beta Club   and National Honor Society

-Annually award Scholarships to graduating Somers High School Seniors

-Sponsor the annual "Great Escape Road Race" before the Four Town Fair Parade

-Run a "Beer & Food Booth" at the Four Town Fair each September

-Charter Boy Scout Troop 387

-Assist in funding the construction of the Somers Scout Lodge for Troop 387

-Built a Wetlands Study area on School Campus (Vision Boulevard)

-Annually fund the SHS Research & Development Class for the building of an electric car which is raced at Lime Rock Park each May
